Seattle Times is criticizing GOP senate candidate Tiffany Smiley for talking about Seattle's crime rate. Also told her to stop using a clipping from their paper in a campaign ad. The Seattle Times also criticized her Seattle crime talk in an op-ed.
Starbucks didn't like the fact they used the Starbucks logo when mentioning that Starbucks has closed 5 locations in Seattle of late. The NFL's Seattle Seahawks didn't like her husband was wearing a Seahawks jersey in a campaign ad.
So 3 companies just said the quiet part out loud or confirmed what most knew.
The Seattle Times' copyright objection is really disgraceful. Citing local newspaper reports in campaign ads is very common practice. And objective news sources appreciate the acknowledgement of their reporting (and authority, I assume).
This is an obvious effort to sabotage the Republican campaign. Truth is, I don't mind partisan news sources. It's just obnoxious and insulting if/when a news source like the Seattle Times still pretends to be objective.
And now they're pulling a petty tactic like this to keep the Republican's ads off the air.
Honestly, why would the Times ever object to their reporting being cited. Isnt that theoretically why they report, to inform the public.. C'mon.

Exactly, The Seattle Times article title sums up or express what the ad is saying. There's a picture with her infront of the times headline with the date. If nothing else it's free advertising for the paper. If that were a bibliography for paper or book it would all be but complete with that picture.
Wonder if the Times staff was told do not put crime and Seattle in the same sentence or title of an article.
Another example that the liberal media is extremely biased and is the propaganda medium for the Left.
