It started in the 80s and progressively got worse. The inflection point of just outright lies, and getting away with it was probably during the Obama years, the case of Trayvon Martin is a good case of example of when it just became outrageous.
There was only a very small window that the "news" was actually good and unbiased. From 1949 to 1987 the fairness doctrine existed and news had to be unbiased..
The Fairness Doctrine applied only to broadcast media.
At least as far back as the " white Hispanic" guy who shot Travon Martin.
