Looking for the best school in Germantown, Tn. We have a 6th grader and 2nd grader- wondering which elementary and middle schools are the best? My 6th grader loves soccer. Thank you in advance!

Tennessee Department of Education - Report Card - Profile

Houston High and Houston Middle are two of the highest regarded schools in this area, but all the schools in Germantown are really good. There are also really good schools in Collierville (to the east of Germantown) and in the other Shelby County suburbs. The link above is the state report card which shows the achievement data at every school. Select the "Shelby County" School district and then select the specific schools to compare.

Since you have a 6th grader, be sure and look at High Schools while you're at it, that's way more important than middle, and it will be here before you blink! If you live in Germantown, you can be districted for Houston High or Germantown. Same report card as Tiger posted. Welcome, and good luck!

Riverdale would be my choice. I have family who've gone there. It's part of the Shelby County school system. Kindergarten through 8th Grade. From there the next step is Germantown High School (unless you want a private school).

My vote is for Riverdale Elementary (K-8), but you can't go wrong with Germantown Elementary and Middle. Most of the kids from Riverdale end up at Germantown High.

As for soccer, look up the local soccer programs not connected with the schools, then they can play for their high school. There was one that used to be called GASA (Germantown Area Soccer Assoc)... I'm not sure if they are still around or changed names. I played Spring and Fall in that program for years and had a blast.

Thanks everyone! If my 6th grader went to Houston Middle, what elementary school is zoned for that area?

More than one Shelby county elementary will feed a middle school, and more than one middle will feed a high school. Some middle schools (Like Schilling), feed two different high schools.

Put any potential street name in the URL below, and you will see the Elementary, Middle and High Schools your kids will be zoned for in the upcoming school year

Welcome
