So, this crazy thing happened this afternoon. I was driving up on Kimbrough towards Union Ave. and stopped at a the red light. Right as I was about to continue to drive up, this woman in front of me gets out of her car and starts to accuse me of bumping her car...which I NEVER DID!!!! I told her it was impossible that I bumped her car ( there was still significant visible distance b/t her car and mine)and proceeded to pull my car over so that we could discuss and exchange information. She refuses to get out of her car and just writes down my tag number and drives off. I did not get her Tag #. My question is does anyone know what I need to do now in case she tries to charge me with a hit and run. I went to the police station and talked to them, and was advised not to worry about it, that if a hit & run would be called in, I would just get a call. Is there FAULT in the fact that she stop and give me her info?

It sounds like you've done all you can by contacting the police. It might be worth calling your car insurance company and filing an account of it, although she shouldn't be able to get your insurance info without knowing your name, which would mean tracking down your license plate #. If she goes through all that mess, she is probably a career criminal who fakes hit and runs for a living Which of course can happen.

But you said she got out of her car to scream at you, but then you said she refused to get out of her car. ??

She sounds like a crazy. You technically didn't hit OR run, as you did pull over and offer information. It's her word against yours -- was there damage on her car, anything at all that she could try and blame on you?

Man...people in this world. I don't get it.

Sounds like a nut. If any problems arise, put an ad in the Commercial Appeal asking for witnesses to come forward. I see ads like that from time to time.

It is crazy that she would get out of her car yell at me and then when I DID pull over she just stayed in the car, blocked mine and then wrote down my tag # but nothing has come it so I hope it is all ok. thanks for the feedback!
