So yes, it really is around 62%. The population in the city is so segregated in some areas that it may appear that the black population is higher than it really is. There are areas of the City that are 90% black and areas of the city that are 90% white.

Black hair salons in Memphis
Im here on a corporate job transfer with my family and spending some months in Memphis. I/we cant find a good black salon or hairdressers to save our lives.
Plenty of food and bbq, but no hair care specialists.
In New York we have africans, the spanish ladies, americans and the gays to do our hair. Down here, in a metro area with this many black people, we cant find a good spot to get hair done. I am natural, and sometimes wear braids and pieces, extensions, etc. My sister is weaved-and Moms is moms. If we can find a good braider, we can, I guess attempt the rest at home. anybody know anywhere, any person that can help us?

i have live here in memphis for 11 years and i have been to about 15 salon and i never went back to one. these people here cant do hair just a hus'''' to get your money how did they get lic''''' to do hair they had to buy them lol because they are not homegrown hair dresser

I go to Ashe's natural hair care salon. I love it! I started my locs almost a year ago (1 year on May 1st to be exact..lol) and I went there to start them and I have been going there ever since. They just don't specialize in locs though. They specialize in natural hair care. Their phone number is 901-743-3200

Black hair salons in Memphis
In New York we have africans, the spanish ladies, americans and the gays to do our hair. Down here, in a metro area with this many black people, we cant find a good spot to get hair done. I am natural, and sometimes wear braids and pieces, extensions, etc. My sister is weaved-and Moms is moms. If we can find a good braider, we can, I guess attempt the rest at home. anybody know anywhere, any person that can help us?
