First time I took a 5 mg Ambien, I hallucinated, but wouldn't have known it had I kept my eyes closed. There was never any doubt the hallucinations were real. I knew they weren't. When telling my doctor what happened, he laughed, saying 5 mg is very mild. Certain other medicines cause the same thing, such as Zoloft and every other antidepressant I've ever tried.

Thank you all so much for posting. When I first started taking Ambien occasionally (jet lag caused by travel or crazy work schedule), it was a wonder. I could get to sleep, stay asleep, and wake up feeling refreshed.

The depression started creeping in when I needed more than one night. Now a single night has an affect. I thought I was going nuts, but these posts mean I'm not the only one.

My data: 5 mg/nite, no history of sleep disorders, no mental issues, etc.

I'm glad this drug helps some. It just appears I'm not one who can share in those benefits.

Ambien is sure is the news a lot more these days since the Roseanne issue. It's on my radio programs and I have radio going all day.

People call in with stories and one man called in about his mother in the hospital with two knee replacements....she asked for a sleep aid the first night I believe and they gave her Ambien and during the night she was getting herself out of bed to go to the bathroom and fell to the floor, broke open both knee replacements and broke another bone. Talk about a huge setback before she even started rehab.

Then a man called in about driving himself to a restaurant in middle of night while on Ambien.

Some getting up in middle of night and cooking, finding dirty pans in the morning and never remembering doing any cooking.

These are the two I've heard and more coming in all the time.

I work with Melatonin and 4-6 other calming supplements that help me sleep all night.

It must be a very a very individual reaction. I took Ambien and had no problem with it. My hubby also, no problem whatsoever. When you think about it, they wouldn't sell so much of it if everybody had bad side effects.

Former Congressman Patrick Kennedy of Rhode Island, while on Ambien, got into his car in the middle of the night, drove to the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington DC, and crashed through the gate guarding the Capitol - without realizing what he was doing.

As soon as she knew she screwed up she tried to place the blame on something other than herself. She knew exactly why she tweeted that and it wasn't because she took ambien.

Exactly.

While we're at it, how about we list every bad thing someone did after using alcohol?

What's the end game people are looking for?

Taking everything that has ever caused anyone a problem off the market?

What if Roseanne had said she tweeted after a couple of glasses of wine? Hmmm?

Believe it or not, last night on coast to coast an MD who is a regular on Noory's program said the racist comment could possibly be due to the Ambien...he did not doubt that at all. I was rather shocked but I heard it. It seems that people do things they would never do not on it.

With too much alcohol and I'm not condoning that for a moment, people usually pass out. Sleep it off for hours.

Of course people should not be behind the wheel on any mind altering drugs.

Yes that is true with large doses of alcohol...some get happy and some get angry. It is very mind altering. But this is about Ambien. I've read that someone very high in politics takes Ambien and boy has this person come out with some nasty racist remarks over some yrs.
