Regarding pets - that is changing very quickly in Mexico. Perhaps it's a sign of increasing economic security - you can find Mexican dog rescue groups all over Facebook, even for strays that were treated like garbage even 10 years ago. My husbands sister is one of those. She's actually become a bit of a hoarder along with her network of people in Tijuana.

One thing is the United States and Mexico share in common is an abundance of Mexicans in both countries.

This is true, the mentality towards pets is changing. This is a problem throughout all of Latin America though.
