I hear alot of good things about the Mexican economy. Do Mexicans feel that things are really improving? How about education, Is the government trying to improve educational levels in rural parts of Mexico? Where do you see Mexico in the next 10 to 20 years?

The economic development of Mexico is dependent, almost entirely, on the financial strength of the USA. So the question might be asked, "Where do you see the USA in the next decade?" A couple of the hurdles Mexico needs to successfully maneuver is a horribly bad public education system, and corruption which is endemic and a significant part of the fiber of the nation. Resolving the war and better managing the violence and criminal enterprises are equally as important.

Mexico is economically better today than say 20 years ago.
The rural Mexico is in better condition, with a little more infrastructure: roads, hospitals, electricity, etc..
Sure, there is still a lot to do, but we have been remarkable advances.

I think that most Mexicans would say that the country is better off than it was 20 years ago, while I think most Americans think the country is worse off than it was 20 years ago.
Most Mexicans understand that the present day total fertility rate of 2.25 (compared to United States TFR of 2.06) means that the demographic meltdown is not going to happen. The US census bureau predicts that Mexican population will level off around 150 million unless immigration is radically increased.
Most Mexicans are wildly patriotic about their country, if distrustful of their government. It is difficult to say if Mexicans are more distrustful of their government than the Americans.
There is a distrust of a class of people sometimes derisively called "rubios" which more or less translates into "blondes". They are power brokers who can be Mexicans or Americans or even Europeans who misuse the labor of people to grow rich by unfair means.

Mexico is BOOMING, its getting better by the second! Third world countries are really catching up, especially Mexico and other countries like Kenya, Botswana and Nigeria.
Mexico has the 5th highest human development index and per capita income, only being beaten by the southern cone countries of Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, and also Panama but it beats Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru , Costa Rica etc.
Mexico has the largest economy in Spanish America with a GDP PPP of 1.743 Trillion. Argentina holds second place at 726 billion. It has the 11th largest economy in the world. It has the most Spanish speakers in the world at 113 million, while Spain is in second place at 46 million.
Mexico brings in the most tourists in Latin America each year, around 23 million. Argentina holds second place at 5 million per year.
Mexico has the most worlds heritage sites in Latin American at 32. Peru is in second place at 11. It is the place of many advance ancient civilizations such as the Olmecs, Mayas, Toltecs, Teotihuacan, Aztecs. It was the center of New Spain. It has a lot of history, I would say the most in Latin America. From the ancient civilizations, to the colonial era, to the independence, the war with the U.S, the Mexican Revolution, Porfirio Era, the economic miracle, PRI era, etc.
Mexico is 10th in oil production around the world and is just behind the oil-dependent country of Venezuela in Latin America, being in 2nd place. It beats Brazil , Colombia, Argentina, Peru, etc.
Mexico has been classified in the MIKT group ( Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Turkey) due to its economic growth. The MIKT is just below the BRIC countries ( Brazil, Russian, India, China).
I don't understand why ignorant people in other Spanish American countries would view Mexico in a lower position. Most of the time they feel superior because of silly reasons such as being superior at football soccer or because their country has more people of European descent as a percentage. But the truth is, there is not a level an exaggerated fanaticism among football soccer fans in Mexico like in other countries and Mexico has the third largest population of European descent in terms of absolute numbers behind Brazil and Argentina.

What will it take for Mexico to catch up to those countries or pass them. In order for Mexico to truely join the first world it would have to pass the levels of Human development in the southern cone countries. Is Pena Nieto do anything to improve Eduation in poor areas?

Better economies of USA, while his main main partner is in crisis, Mexico will battle to improve its development.
How is a country's rule of law considered when measuring human and economic development? Yes, Mexico is better off than lets say 20 years ago and it is officially an emerging economy, but I find it very difficult for it to develop into a world class economy when there is no law abiding culture, from the government down to the individual. Mexico has the potential to be a top 5 economy, but the country itself needs a reformation, not just some government reforms. It needs a total makeover, a revolution, a rebirth. If there is ever any noise coming from Mexico it's usually from those that want power, money, influence, not from people with vision and real passion for the country's future. They need a Lincoln, a Napoleon.
