Cancun is wonderful. My husband and I vacationed there about 5 years ago. The sand is soft, the water is warm, and the people were very friendly. I would recommend snorkeling - be sure to check with the hotel staff for recommended places. Have fun!
You can't miss theme parks like Xcaret and Xelha (1 hour drive from Cun) and Chichen Itza (2.5 hours drive from Cun) also in front of Cancun is Isla Mujeres and 1 hour south the trendy town Playa del Carmen (Playacar) in front Cozumel Island for a good scuba diving. Another mayan ruins worth the drive are Tulum (2 hours from Cun).
My boyfriend and I have been twice and stayed at the oasis cancun, which wasn't extreamly nice but we had the good part of the beach! We ate hotdogs and burgers all day on the beach. It's truly amazing(ocean) Its like it glows and it is worth every penny to just sit on the beach and decompress from everyday life. Royal Solaris is nice you got a good one Tulum is my fav , right on the beach and great history. Chitza Nitza was really cool,~HOT HOT HOT, long drive but you really apreciate the little things in life(you will know what i mean if you go),Over all great experice.
