Travelling to Playa del Carmen with DH and two young sons, March 18-23. Staying @ an Occidentals Resort but don't want to be limited to the hotel. Looked forward to going into town to visit restaurants there, buy small things to bring back home, etc.
My MIL has DH scared to death though and he is now saying there's no way in heck we're leaving the resort grounds. I told him I'd rather play it by ear, see what hotel employees have to say, etc.
If we take reasonable safety measures, which I would do with or without warnings, regardless of where we were, can I assume we will likely be OK? The thought of staying @ the resort (regardless of how many restaurants and planned activities) sounds crazy to me.
