I think the Miami Herald arlready did an article but here is view from the U.K. on Tom Wolfe's upcomming book which will be set in Miami.

Miami's broad Cuban smile reveals the future face America will wear | World news | The Observer

The novel has been described as Wolfe's take on "class, family, wealth, race, crime, sex, corruption and ambition in Miami, the city where America's future has arrived."

Tom Wolfe has chronicled everything from California Hippies (Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test) to Wall Street/NYC (Bonfire of the Vanities)...now it's time for Miami.

Do you view this as good, bad, or could you care less?

I think it's great actually. I hope some of his characters includes a recently arrived cuban pot grower, a colombian cocaine dealer, a Venezuelan millionaire Chavista residing in a private island, a corrupt hispanic mayor stealing funds from the city, an anglo con artist from the NE.

There's plenty of material.

I think you are being sarcastic and all, but if you are not...

why do you want such characters included?

Based on that review you might as well have just titled it, "Burn Notice: The Book."

I think that Wolfe will create a "pastiche" using characters similar to those indicated by PRINC3S.

Wolfe is very good writing XIXth Century style "part-issues", just as Dumas, Balzac and Dickens. "Part-issues" were the XIXth Century version of Soap Operas or "Novelas".

If we take a look at the Bonfire of the Vanities, we will see a XIXth Century style "part-issue" based on New York city.

I think that Wolfe will dwelve on the stereotypes created by the media during the last 70 years.

Many part-issues are now considered "masterworks", but Wolfe is too simplistic and lacks proximity. He writes for a very large audience, so his novel will be just a movie script for another Miami movie.
