Orlando Among 50 Most Dangerous Cities
POSTED: 8:11 am EST November 22, 2010
UPDATED: 8:53 am EST November 22, 2010

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A new list that uses FBI crime statistics to rank the most dangerous 400 cities in America puts Orlando among the top 50.

CQ Press said the FBI statistics used to list America's most dangerous cities included towns with a population of more than 75,000 people.

Orlando ranked 46 on the list of 400 cities. According to the list, New York, Los Angeles and Miami are safer cities to live in.

Melbourne and Lakeland fared better, according to CQ Press, placing 116 and 186 respectively.

The three most dangerous cities in America, according to the list, are St. louis, Camden and Detroit.

So much for all of the negative comments on this board! Miami doesn't even make the top 50 most dangerous cities according to the latest FBI statistics!

That's why I never jog or walk outside by myself even if the weather is perfect and I'm dying for to do activities outdoors here in Orlando...

Miami is dangerous in the hoods, not in Kendall or Doral... One time I left the doors unlocked at night and nothing happened...

These type of articles **** me off. Miami is #51. Big deal. So now Miami is much safer than Orlando because it's not in The top 50? Who hires these people?

Check the Metro areas, Miami dade county is #16, next Florida metro is Jacksonville at #43, Orlando metro is #53.

If I've said it once, I've said it a million times, common sense, regardless of where you go, keeps you safe most of the time.

I'm not going for an evening stroll in Opa Locka or Liberty City. I'm not going to a rager in the middle of the night in Overtown, I'm not going to places I know are not safe!

Your safety in Miami-Dade and all of South Florida for that matter is many times what you make of it.

Well considering Miami used to be at the top of these lists this is actually welcoming news to me. Remember these figures come from the FBI itself.
