Approved:

One Bayfront Plaza
Airport link metro line
New Orange Bowl stadium
The movie theater at MET site
The tunnel to the port (?)
FIU/UM/MDC construction - "I need help specifying what those are"

Post 2012
- Mesh Light towers

That's all I can think of right now. You can add more projects to the list, just make sure they are 2011/2012 proposals.

For FIU I think they are building a new campus downtown. I will have to look for a link on that. Maybe on the original post it would be cool if you could provide links to the website for each project you're mentioning.

UM is proposing some expansion along Ponce de Leon and also is proposing to purchase some of the roads within the UM campus that are currently owned by the city. The feeling I get is the city is against this. For some reason they sent out notices to every home in the area via certified mail -- something I've never seen before. I for one support it, I don't see why the city should have to maintain roads within a private campus that aren't too useful for residents -- but the are parking meters along some of these streets so I am sure that's what the fuss is about, the city wants the parking and parking enforcement revenue.

What is the mesh light towers?

I think the light towers are the video screens being planned for by Arsht.

I think that by 2012 it will be obvious that the proposed huge Miami Central Park will not be even close to starting - nor will the proposed ribbons of bike paths that were to crisscross the city as per the latest Miami Parks Master Plan.

But I can dream that a miracle might happen.
I would love to be wrong about my prediction.

Which Miami Central park? The one with the Museums? If so they have already broken grown on that one. If you go over there you will notice the homeless are no longer there in large numbers like before. Unless you are speaking of another park plan, in which case please share info.

I am talking about what they called a real Central Park along the Miami River, it seems to be West of Little Havana on both sides of the river.

The picture is found on a pdf file within the Miami Parks Master Plan. You can find it on the Miami Planning Department website.

Here is the link:

City of Miami - Planning Department

And then download the pdf.

OMG, what a horrible design for a park. I thought it was going to be something FOREST-LIKE or PLAZA-like park; something ala Central Park or Ueno Park in Tokyo or any park around the world.

That proposal looks like a big version of a soulless and treeless Kendall style "park". EEEEEEEEKkkkkkk We might as well call them "grass area" instead of 'park'.

It saddens me that regular Miamians can't get any presentable project to enjoy.

It's a lame and cheap excuse for a park.

I hear you... and it probably won't ever be built.

And that's a shame, because Miami really needs a large urban Central Park.

Margaret Pace, Museum, and Bayside are too small.

The only borderline park we have in Miami is Tropical Park; Bayside it's a frying pan (literally ). There is one in Coconut Grove as well, but it's far deep away from the regulars' touch.
