I've been browsing this forum and I've read so many negative posts about Miami!

Honestly, what is Miami really like?

Not just the negative but also the positive!

I think it is redundant to write again what is wrong and right with Miami. It is better if you just read the different posts.

Miami is many things to different people. Come, visit, and draw your own conclusions.

What to say about Miami??
We just left Miami after 7 years of enjoying it immensely. However it is not a good place to raise kids unless you can afford private school .Miami is a place to visit (after Hurricane season is over and the terrible heat and humidity are somewhat reduced - air conditioning has to run 24/7 starting in early May until late October/mid Noviembre ).
For us the most scary part would be a hurricane coming strait at Miami and everybody would have to leave --... there is only ONE way - to the north.
It would be a catastrophy ....
If you have money and can afford to live on the water - it is a great place ,if you can not afford to live on the water ( and most people can't) than why would you move to Miami - it is too hot,too crowded, very controversial, too humid AND NOW WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for what you get for your money.
Anyway we enjoyed it,but now we are VERY happy to have sold out and have left !! One day I'll buy a condo ...

This seems to be the consensus about what the real deal is in Miami. For many people in the middle-income brackets who know they have other options, Miami is worth a $100k-$150k condo maybe, and anything more than that, for what you really get, is simply overpriced.

I still remember the days, back in the 80's, when a condo in Miami Beach costed around $40,000. Small, but with ocean view.

I love the redlands and want to move there from Jupiter! I love Jupiter but doesnt feel ike home. I lived in Miami most of my life and complained but now miss it terribly. If all good people leave then it will become a slum

People who are unhappy are more likely to vocalize...

In the customer service profession they call the vocal minority.

......I think Miami is a wonderful city for some but for the average person its a nightmare.
