Do you dislike Miami Beach, too? Just wondering.

I would say it would be a nice place, but for it's proximity to Miami itself.

But frankly it is a little too tacky/kitschy for me.

I like Miami Beach, it is much better than the rest of Miami. But like the other poster said it is still too close to the rest of Miami-Dade, that you really can't escape the many things that have gone down hill or are going downhill about Miami-Dade. There are pockets of Miami-Dade that are nice to live, but once you leave your house or your street, you will experience many of the things we dislike about Miami like overcrowded malls for instance, rude drivers, crazy drivers, etc.

Miami Beach is a microcosm of Miami, yet is is more diverse and has more pluses, such as the beach and skyline of the bay and ocean views. Personally, I like it, but I prefer to live in Miami.

I think Miami Beach is a good place to visit. The historic Art Deco architecture (some of the only preserved historic architecture in Miami-Dade) alone makes it very unique. However, I would not want to live there, vacations only!

No I actually like the beach area. Even though I'm not big on clubs and stuff, its an ok area, and of course youve got the beach which is like no other

The beach at Miami beach is not that great. No parking, and kind of restrictive but still trashy. The island as a whole is a real attraction, because a great deal of old Miami Beach design remains and stands out against condo-crazy Miami. That modern style of the old buildings is what Miami was all about!

If you are talking about the people, then sure.

The beach itself is dreck compared to the beaches of the west coast and Panhandle.
