Cuba and USA are secret bed love partners behind the scenes. It's like their in cahutz with each other. If the USA despises or hates a nation why would their be cooperated effort between two opposing governments to allow or import it's people to the nation that claims to hate you or villify and try to ensure failure and put blockades up against you. Makes no sense.

There is probably some secret details and aspects between USA and Cuba that we the citizens and people don't know about. Very suspect.
Well it actually makes perfect sense for two countries which do not like each other to not deport its citizens to the other because they have no diplomatic relations. As for Cubans being deported. No, as long as they make it to US Soil before being caught by authorities they won't be deported. However, they can still have a deportation issue ordered on them and they can lose their residency/green card if they commit crimes etc.. When this happens they get work authority but they have few rights, need to meet with ICE officers a certain amount of times a year and when diplomatic relations do open up they could be deported.

After Obama took over, flights to Cuba have become more accessible for Cubans but also for Americans. If you want to go to Cuba there are hundreds of legal ways to do it; academic, religious, business dealing with Health Care and Agriculture. So no biggie there thanks to Obama.

Also, most Cuban-American vote Republican?

Yep, many of us vote republican but there is in fact a trend where new arrivals and first generation Cuban-Americans vote Democrats. I really can’t blame them. The social and media machine in our society is lightly leaned to the left. One has to only see how many of our teachers talk or indoctrinate our children with their political views. But oh well, that’s another topic.
Why do we vote Republican? I will speak only about my POV and experience. Republicans aren’t better than Democrats, but Republicans; the people not the professional politicians, have a culture of self-reliance, fiscal discipline and the knowledge that nothing is free in this world. "Energy cannot be created nor destroyed, just transformed" So following mother nature, money ( the concept of money, not the FED money which can be printed at any time creating disastrous consequences) is not free, in order to have it you need to put some energy into it besides of course having children like crazy or living on welfare. Gosh, I run away from the topic.

Also, any Cuban who gets to u.s. soil, gets u.s. citizenship?

No, at the beginning we get the same treatment as other people who come from communist societies, or better said, communist societies that aren’t friend of the US government. We get paroled for a year then at the end of such year, we apply for a green card which is usually granted because, one, we can’t be deported, two, there is the Cuban Adjustment Act. Like there are other acts such as the North Vietnamese Act, and on and on.

Reason why do new Cuban arrivals go along the Democrat way? Well, after 50 years of telling you what to do, what to think, what to say, or as I believe the loss of individualism and critical thinking, it is easy to go for what you know, and the most closed to what many Cubans know are the ideas spitting out of many Democrats, big government, class warfare, hate to the wealthy, punishing the risk takers, no hard-work because everything will be handled to you by papa government. I am trying not to be biased here but that’s how I see it.
This guy hit it on the nail. Im a child of an Exile Family and what you said is really just the truth. I've seen a lot of cubans now days come from cuba to the US for "economic problems" and don't work and are on benefits. I'd say most exiles see these individuals as lazy & mooching off the government because thats all they have learned in Cuba.

The thing with these individuals is that they they travel to Cuba consistently to see families and other times to do other "activities".

I guess it's time to bash Cubans again on the Miami forum. I don't know why this thread was brought back from the dead from over 2 years ago. I can see it being locked already.

Some people don't have a good grasp of foreign languages. many came here in their late 30s or 40s or older and it's very hard for them to learn a new language.

If you had to move to China at that age I'm sure you would have trouble learning Chinese. I would choose to learn as much as I can because it would be beneficial to me.

For a lot of them they didn't need to learn as much to get by. I don't begrudge them, if they could learn to speak it easily I'm sure they would.

The worst hypocrites are the ones who say speak English but they refuse to learn any other language themselves, and are probably too dumb to do so.

As far as Cubans being Republican I didn't know they were, maybe the Miami ones are, but in the northeast I don't think the majority are. And it's not about getting benefits. To me Republicans only care about rich people and making the rich richer. Some naive people also vote that way due to the abortion issue.

Bob Menendez Cuban Senator for New Jersey is a Democrat.

Cuban immigration has greatly characterized modern Miami, creating what is known as "Cuban Miami." However, Miami reflects global trends as well, such as the growing trends of multiculturalism and multiracialism; this reflects the way in which international politics shape local communities.[1] Essentially, the coexistence of growth and internationalization within Miami has perpetuated an ethnically driven social polarization.[2] The growing number of Cubans in Miami have remained loyal to their cultural norms, mores, customs, language, and religious affiliations. The large influx of Cuban immigrants remaining loyal to their cultures was accompanied with local fears that these immigrants would greatly change the social and cultural landscape of Miami. Essentially, Miami's residents of non-Hispanic European descent feared that the quality of life in their area would depreciate with an influx of 3rd World migrants. The transnational force of immigration defines Miami as a growing metropolis, and the 20th century Cuban influx has greatly affected Miami's growth.
