I was curious about moving to this area just for the summer months. If anyone knew of how that kind of thing works.

All I'm interested in is just possibly leaving in a house, condo, apartment, etc just for summer months. Maybe finding a job.

for a regular apt or condo rental, just look in the classifieds for rental ads, contact them, and ask specifically if they do "short term" leases, and what their minimum lease is - some places will go down to a 3-month minimum, which would be ideal for a summer visit.

when i did this, i found ONE - count it - ONE - apartment that allowed a minimum of one-month lease .... it wasn't that great, but it was workable for my 6-weeks stay. I found it on craigslist; which is usually not the recommended place to look, as there are many scams in their rental section. however, i knew in advance that I'd have to do a lot of research to determine if the place i found was legitimate - and it was. So even Craigslist can be used successfully if you're smart about it, and willing to do thorough legwork checking out addresses, public records, building ownership, who the rental agent or manager is, if they're legit, etc.

there are also plenty of 'vacation rentals' - which cost more than a regular apartment, but are usually much easier to get for a short term. Look in the usual classifieds and CL for those too; and you can also try 'vrbo.com' (vacation rentals by owner)
