My old stomping grounds. Cutler ridge, S miami heights was tough when I lived there 30 years ago. When I drove through about 5 years ago it looked to have gotten progressively worse.

Why does Miami have such a persistent problem with violent crime? It's a big issue. I've seen news reports about how Miami-area thugs are upgrading from regular semiautomatic handguns to assault rifles, or rifles with folding stocks for easy transport. Charlie Crist is being 'soft on crime.'

there probably have been lots of cops killed in L.A. throughout history based on the gang problem, but what is the rate that it happens with thier population per capita?...and where are the stories?

I just say this not out of offense but because i was in a karate class in Miami before and the sensei was from "the bronx" in NY and we had 2 city of Miami cops taking classes and one metro-dade cop also ....well they would sometimes talk about a shooting or something that happened on duty the previous night and the sensei from NY would always butt-in and say that a cop got killed everyday in NY....so really there is a stereotype when people talk about crime in areas then there are actual facts and statistics on the rate of things that happen

One cannot compare Miami's crime to that in D.C., Gary (per capita), St. Louis, and a number of other places.
