Hi all, I'm new to south fl from Jersey. I'm looking to see if there is a Peruvian independence parade or festival? I've looked online but I dont see anything. If someone could point me in the rite direction. Thanks

The only parade I know of that is held every year is the Gay Pride parade. Other than that we don't have annual parades for an specific group.

The last one I went to (2007), it was held at the Tamiami Park (next to FIU)...food, music, entertainment, etc.
Don't know where they are held nowdays. Try this link.

What about the Romeria de Santa Marta de Ortigueira?
It was real fun, no more?

@ Cholo57 thanks for the link I read that they have some kind of gathering with food and music. In Jersey they have a few parades n festivals. I was always a part of the festivities because my father is the president of the Peruvian group there. I would like to start something here like that so Peruvians can enjoy their day and so people from other cultures can learn of ours.

Go for it!
The Peruvian community in Miami is not as large as the ones in the NJ, NY area...the great majority are found in the Kendall, Doral area. Some in Homestead but not as large.
Check out the monument to Almirante Miguel Grau at 137th Ave. and 88 st.(Almirante Grau Ave.) Kendall.

¡Feliz 28!
