After living in Miami for over 30 years and retiring out west 12 years ago, I'm coming back for a week to visit friends, family and eat some authentic Cuban food again

So the question is where? Some of my old favorites are Bahama Fish House, Versailles, one with a name that starts with a C, on a corner; all on 8th St. Any recommendations for the current BEST Cuban food ??

La Rosa Restaurant Miami - Cuban Cuisine

La Rosa. Lamb shanks in tomato sauce is quite nice. My brother favors the palomilla steak.

N.W. 7 Street and 40 avenue.

Even though a tourist spot Versailles really does have great Cuban food.

My favorite Cuban steak sandwich is at enriquetas and my favorite Frita Rey de la Frita on 8th street.

I used to live in Miami also and when I go back I always go to Versailles. The other one you're talking about on SW 8th Street, on the corner, is La Carreta. Miami, I miss you!

Islas Canarias makes awesome croquetas, Versailes makes everything good in general, El Mago De Los Fritas makes epic fritas, El Palacio De Los Jugos makes tasty juices(I have something called a maracuya), and Rio Cristal is a old-fashion feeling cafe in Westchester, Also Cuban Guys in Hialeah Gardens does great Cuban fast food.

My favorite place for Pan Con Bistec is on 27th ave and around 25th st. Not Mary's Coin Laundry. It's now under new ownership so I don't know if its the same. I loved it because it was cheap ($5) and made em like my mom's with cuban bread from the bakery, lettuce and tomato. Oh, and it was huge.

Not like the ones I've had at some other fancy restaurants where they give you a small sandwich with some flattened bread that isn't cuban.

All of Miami- I haven't had 'bad' cuban food at any of the places mentioned so far. And I have eaten at all of the ones mentioned at one point or another.

For a good pork sandwich, I like Esquina De Lechon on NW 87th Ave / NW 58th St - next to the Shell Station.
