hi all, i am an artist wanting to relocate to miami, i have heard lots of good things about the art world there and with the annual artbasel show being one of the US biggest art conventions.
can someone tell me more about the art scene and the art gallery. is their money in this field or is it saturated, i believe downtown is also developing an art area, are there places to live and work out of in that area.
any advice or knowledge would be appreciated
thank you

The Design district north of downtown has art galleries as well. As with any up & coming area there are sketcy areas but yes their is money in the arts industry in Miami.

Wynnwood to the south of the design district that is a different area but it's part of Midtown Miami which was a 36 acre former railroad yard that is more invain of a new urbanist type village. How much is your budget & what are you looking for?

thanks miamirob, we have no idea what commercial rents are like in those areas, we were thinking maybe to live and work in the same space or at least live close by, but at the same time a safe environment is also a priority. i have read that galleries and artists are moving from the design district to places like miami beach and brickell . we would consider buying an existing gallery.

That's why I mentioned Downtown and East Little Havana. A lot of artist are heading there, both high and low profile. You should still definitely get to know Wynwood and the people there that could give you much more insight to the scene.
