The only solution I can think of in regards to those incidents in Broward County involving firearms and the killing of innocent children is THE ENFORCEMENT OF ILLEGAL WEAPON CHECKPOINTS.

Something needs to be done, and we are not seeing any actions aimed at preventing future shootings. Arresting former shooters is not enough.

Police MUST ensure malicious citizens do not possess firearms. But it seems that Broward police is only concerned about trifles. .

Having checkpoints like that is illegal. It would never be held constitutional.

America's gun culture is not going anywhere. They'll never do that.
I'd be OK with an outright ban on firearms all together. But again, America's gun culture will not be changed. Just have to accept the risk of being shot by any person who owns or possesses a gun legally or illegally.

Ditto... Last I checked the US Constitution is still valid.

I agree something needs to be done, but 'check points' are not the answer. Even driver checkpoints, which are legal, are tricky to setup legally. They also take a LOT of personpower, i.e. money, to run. Not saying that should be the determining factor, but when you, the taxpayer, get that bill...

You are right it would be illegal and unconstitutional, but what about the DUI checkpoints. They are also illegal and unconstitutional, yet they continue to take place.

I really do not see another solution. The Constitution could be amended, so legality is not the big issue, especially if police only attempted to confiscate illegal weapons.

People who own guns legally are not the ones causing these shootings affecting kids even when they are asleep at home. Bullets are going through walls and hitting kids. What else needs to happen for politicians to step forward? Not all of them are drug addicts!

I do not see politicians trying to fix this problem. Cities like Hallandale and Miami Gardens resemble war zones.

What has made this country so great was when the Constitution was adopted 226 years ago and now we are going to screw with it because of a problem that has been allowed to get out of control and can be dealt with without having to amend the Constitution.

The Constitution had to be amended in the past to serve current trends. New problems arise requiring new solutions, and sometimes laws have to be changed to be in harmony with new needs.

Actually, at first the Constitution had too many nonesenses that had to be fixed.

the problem is they dont check for malicious citizens that always result in accusations of discrimination, they go after all gun owners. the easiest to disarm being homeowners, and that is where the anti gun movement is headed.
selective gun bans have caused every catastrophy in history.
