In the last two weeks I have noticed county workers attaching little lights to the tops of some traffic controller boxes. Any idea what that is for? Because I was in a hurry to deliver square bales , I missed the chance to ask the workers.

...is it possible those are items that respond to police, ambulance, and fire vehicle signals which have the ability to change the rate at which traffic signals turn from red to green when approaching intersections??

Possible, but they had a system like that in the 1960's. Hard to believe that the county would spend money on something actually useful.

Cameras for traffic control. They save time and gas by regulating the lights so people don't sit at intersections waiting for long lights. Some people think they are for giving out tickets but they are low resolution cameras that only determine if someone is sitting at the light. If they are an no one is passing through the green side it will automatically change the light so they don't have to wait for the timing feature. Old idea, new technology.

They don't look like cameras, someone needs to call public works on 36 street and 72 ave or wait till one breaks off to take a look.
