Hi, me and my wife are in our mid 20s, no kids, from SoCal. We have never been to Miami and would really like to visit. Problem is that the most time off from work that we can get is during christmas time because my wife is kindof forced to take some days off at that time. So would that be a waste of money if we'd come late december? How is the weather usually like during that time? Would we be able to go the beach or is that out of the question?

Weather wise December is a nice month to visit not too cold yet and not hot and humid anymore. December can be warm enough to go to the beach, it just all depends on the cool fronts. Christmas time room rates will be higher than normal, so keep that in mind when booking hotel rooms.

yeah like doggiebus said, it really depends. There are days in december where it can be well into the 80s and other days where it's only like 72-75.... it's hit or miss.

I remember one year my parents came down around xmas time from up north and the day they arrived it was sunny and 84 degrees, spent a good portion of the day on the beach, the next day it rained and was 67.... days after that were in the low to mid 70s..... pleasant, but not exactly beach weather.

It has been 90 degrees some Decembers, and when I was a kid, as low as 35 at night. As mentioned above it's a spin of the wheel as to what the temps will be. With the current sahara weather trend, the last three years have been hot and not cool. This year should be the same.

Even when it does get significantly cold (usually more in late January to March), it is quite a bit warmer at the coast. The bigger concern is perhaps wind. If it's windy enough, even 70's may not be so pleasant at the beach. Then again it can be in the 60's during the day but still feel warm with no wind in peak midday sun on the sand. By SoCal standards, the water is still relatively warm in December.

El Nino patterns like this year are supposedly cooler and wetter in FL, but that's just statistically speaking, so you never know.

If you want to do the locals thing you can go to bird road park for christmas and amusement part fair, but it WILL be a culture shock so have a open mind. You are going to get lots of highs that will effect us so you will have strong breezes but that water will still be reasonable.

I suggest doing a lot more historic ventures and driving around areas to get a feel.

Be wary of Santa's Enchanted Forest. Or as I like to call it, "Santa's Enchanted Rip-Off." All I'm sayin' on this subject.

I love Miami and deem it a beautiful city but I have to admit that it doesn't feel like Christmas in Miami, when you see palm trees and have warm weather it doesn't feel Christmasy.
