Glad you enjoyed your time in Miami. Did you use any of the free Trolley systems? Also what did you think of Metromover?

As for eating lunch earlier in Brickell before 11:30 AM? I think that has to do with the business nature of Brickell office workers in the area.

Anyways thanks for posting your experiences!

We didn't get to use the trolley systems and we found the MetroMover to be efficient, although it got quite confusing at one point (and we are accustomed to using public transportation/subways all over the world in all languages, but this one got us!).....I don't remember the stop, but we were on one that said Brickell and that appeared to continue on the route to Brickell. All of a sudden at one stop, after it was too late, we realized we had to get off that car and get on another car coming somewhere behind in order to stay on the same route to Brickell. It wasn't a big deal to us, because we just got off and walked back a few blocks to the last stop, but another man was en route to a new job and because he had to make the entire circle again, he was going to be late to his job.

I think they need to improve their signage/notices a little bit, but otherwise, it was great, clean, and cold inside! I wish Austin would implement something similar...

Sorry you had to go through such horrible experience. I heard of people who move out of high rises because they have similar experiences. I guess because we don't have trains like up north people choose this method. I honestly think we should make suicide w/ medication more available so people wouldn't have to choose such desperate methods.

Miami is very suburban and Little Havana in my opinion gets more publicity than it deserves. There is not much to see there. The only you can do is eat cuban food at some local restaurant. South Beach is the only walkable place we have.

When I lived at Tao Sawgrass, we had a jumper, also. I saw the body but not the jump. I guess it just comes with the territory.

The scary part is that the suicide jumper did not make the news. It shows how the media here misses many things that happen on a daily basis. There really is nothing unique about downtown Miami but the metromover is an excellent way to get a view of the city and some of its locals. The only downside is the homeless people and lack of scenery. High rise living in a suburban place like Dade county is pointless unless you are a student or elderly, and few of those people can afford the overpriced apartments. If you ever want to experience the real Miami rent a car and drive around.

Jumpers don't usually make the news...or people who shoot themselves on the side of the road. In general suicides are rarely reported unless their deaths interrupt a train schedule or blocks several lanes on a major expressway.

Suicides happen all the time... ALL the time. Several daily just in South Florida. In fact, a majority of "gun deaths" is suicide. And of course, that doesn't count all the suicides from jumping. I can think of 6 suicide jumpers that I'm aware, either saw or became aware from someone else, in just the last 5 years in South Florida. None of which were in the news.

Well you missed the incident about the Skytrain derailing at Miami International, crummy reporter you would make also.
