West Kendall does not need another store or mall.

We need more parks, more bike paths, more open space, more dog parks, more usable public space to just enjoy. Not another mall. Please god...why? why??
They cannot get rich unless they are destroying quality areas or filling up open space. Developers could care less about the quality of life, they choose to live in older areas not the places they build.

Surprisingly West Kendall does have a dog park, and the area that is West Kendall Baptist/maybe shopping does have bike lanes all around it and there is a pretty big park that's coming to the area too. That land on Kendall drive will be developed into something commercial for sure, eventually. I'm surprised they haven't started, frankly, as all major shopping/eating/entertainment in West Kendall is usually very crowded and more housing being built is bringing even more people to the area.

Me, I loved that piece of land when it was a farm. But God forbid, we leave any farms in the area. They're just too green. Not enough concrete.

If it has to be developed, which we all know will happen, I'd love to see that property developed into a town square type area. Maybe a two theater cinema, small bowling alley, mini golf, family type restaurants and cafes. Weekends with a farmers market and community events would be great too. So many schools in this area, so getting the kids involved performing would be nice to see as well.

Btw, the path around the hospital and lake is about a mile and now they put exercise equipment all around it. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet, but I think that's a nice addition.

I haven't seen a 2 screen theatre or a bowling alley built since the 70's. I don't think they would be economically feasible.

In Aventura they built a movie theatre/bowling alley combo...
It's called Cinebowl...probably built 2 years ago. It also has a restaurant, so one can bowl, go grab some food and then hit a movie all in the same building. Also, there is a bar there so it's a pretty chill hangout. West Kendall would benefit from something similar.

Yes, something like that. Not a huge Don Carter's, but small scale would be great and I'm sure it would be used heavily by the community.

Interesting idea! Unfortunately I live in a county where the only bowling lanes are lane 35 and 36 from the old Don Carters which are in my barn.

It's in the works. The Pointe at Kendall Town Center just acquired a 16M construction loan for 53,185 sq ft of retail and restaurants in April and they already broke ground across from the BJ's lot. The Pointe at Kendall Town Center will consist of seven single-tenant buildings, ranging in size from 3,200 square feet to 7,200 square feet, and a multi-tenant building totaling 14,000 square feet. They are working fast. That corner is separate from The Kendall Town Center, which is the larger lot in the middle of that huge plot. They plan an open air retail facility with 2 anchor department stores. I'm thinking it's going to be similar to The Falls.

This has been overdue for a few years. Speaking of bike paths has anyone noticed that with the new construction on Krome they are putting in a bike path on the east side of the road? Safety first it is off to the side like the one that used to go down US1 many moons ago. Or was that Old Cutler. I can't remember back that far.
