Was just curious about this, since it's at least my understanding that this area has the clearest stretch of water in Florida. Cape Florida State Park had incredibly turquoise water, as did Palm Beach, but I was wondering if there was a more idyllic, Carribean-esque patch of water in Florida than this? Thanks in advance.

Haulover, hands down, but well north of the jetty. Like, close to the nude beach. Just be advised, this is a terrible time of the year for clarity. The water quality degrades quite a bit in the winter with the cooler water which stirs up more sediment due to its density, and also due to the fact that there is usually a very strong onshore breeze that stirs up the water. Summer is the time of lazy hot days with still air where the sediments settle. From late April and on, the water is very blue and clear, but right now and for many days in the winter season, but with a few exceptions, it gets a more milky green and sometimes takes on almost a milky greyish cast in the shallows.

I've always had the impression that the Key Biscayne beaches and water are quite filthy and disgusting actually.

I agree that the best stretches are probably between Haulover and up to Palm Beach; in between Hollywood Beach is worth mentioning, but that's not Dade County.

Good Luck!

Yes. The Florida Keys have the clearest water in Florida. The Keys, at times, can be much clearer than the water along mainland Florida.

Lol I was joking. Crandon Park's water is beyond disgusting, the last time I was there (2011) it was light brown and there was trash in the water.

South Beach is pretty clear and has pretty turqoise water but can get packed in summer. Now out of Miami go to Naples or Sarasota, Siesta key now that is more of a paradise type of clear water beaches!

For whatever reason, every time I tell someone to go to Sarasota, they come back and tell me that the water was not clear at all. When I go, most of the time, it is nice and clear. I guess it could be hit and miss.

Everytime I've been to the west coast beaches, Marco, Naples and Sanibel, probably at least 50 times, I've only seen the water clear a handful of times. This has been from around May to September. Maybe at other times of the year it's more clear?
