This is the part of the year where parking lots became magically a shady business. Plunders taking advantage of p. lots scarcity charge you perfectly between $20-50 per two hours! and the trend is infecting now all Miami and Fort Lauderdale too. Is there any way to stop these way of social consented racketeering businesses?

Does anyone know if it is a city ordinance por parking lots to post their fees? In a very visible way before you enter their lot.
Some places in Miami Beach charge a flat fee, if you stay 10 minutes or the whole day, about $20. Other places en City of Miami charge by the time, considering the "prestige" of some places we've been, Coral Gables for example, we thought it was reasonably to be charged between $3 and $8.
The best value, in my opinion, is PayByPhone, mostly street parking but there are several lots and buildings that accept it, we've paid about $1.10 per hour.

The solution is simply to take Uber and screw the price gaugers.

Just do not go places where they charge for parking.

The algorithm that Uber uses to handle peak days, can raise the price of the fare up to 8 times, for example, on New Years early morning, Bayside Park to the Airport up to $95, normal fare would be about $14. They're no gauging but compensating, not enough drivers at 2am, lots of requests.

Also, why do people wait until the day before or even the day of the big festivity to go do their shopping?

It's called supply and demand.
Just go elsewhere and problem solved.
