Not so much culture, but the money, as your Forbes citations aptly clarifies.

At any rate, there are so many Chinese that they disperse everywhere around the globe, including Miami.

There may be some parallels to Hong Kong, but as mentioned that's mostly a marketing slogan.

In any case, the US offers political legal stability and deep financial and real estate markets, and low taxation. Florida offers no state income tax, and Miami offers a financial, trade and marketing hub, as well as warm temperatures all year round, and its real estate prices are still a screaming bargain compared to major global cities.

Yeah, sure, some Chinese will come here, a trickle to them which might seem like a flood to us.

Some good Chinese restaurants would be great. And a mass transit system that worked as well as Hong Kong's.

Never mind mass transit, how about we start with a ferry system similar to Hong Kong's. Or even better, Sydney, Australia's.

Why don't we fix what we have in place now before we implement a Ferry system that may or may not be feasible.

Because, money. By "fix" what we have in place now, I assume you mean expand the mass transit system. It would cost hundreds of millions of dollars less, not to mention years quicker to implement, to create a ferry system.

Seriously we have plenty of bridges that could use “fixing “ and updating. A ferry system looks good on postcards and on advertising to increase tourism and resemble Disney World.
Average commuter who lives and works in Miami Dade and has to deal with all the rush hour gridlock traffic on a daily basis is not going to use a ferry system. For a choice few it might
work but for the overwhelming majority it’s not practicle or convenient.

Ferries work in the gridlocked SF Bay Area....without question when I had to work from an office (as in my first job) the commute from Marin County (Tiburon and Larkspur) to downtown SF was second to none. There was morning coffee and food service and Cocktail service for the return ride home. Once a month there was FART--(Friday afternoon round trip) that served as a happy hour in which commuters would go from SF-Marin back to SF and then back to Marin again so that they had more time to consume more drinks. Now that was a commute.

The bigger issue would probably be parking--enough spaces to support passengers who drove to a ferry terminal. Plus, as we all know, there is no such thing as free parking in Miami whereas there was no charge for parking in assigned ferry passenger spaces in Marin--unless we are talking about ferries that carry cars as well as people.

In NYC the commuters breakdown as follows:
41% use Subway
24% use drive alone
12% use the Bus
10% walk to work
5% carpool
1%use taxi
.6% use bikes
.2% use Ferry

As you can see the Ferry sounds really good but
Makes no impact in reducing gridlock and traffic.
I’m sure SF isn’t much different than NYC.

We have several decent chinese restaurants. Check out Chinese Guy near FIU, and Red Shallot in Doral (for the best takeout).
