I was there near the end of February and it was pleasant and quiet. Now all hell has broken loose with over 150 arrested and two shot-one dead. It seems people go there to start trouble.

The Mayor wants to cut down on the party atmosphere and make it more of an architectural district than a party place.

Any thoughts?

Stop allowing these crowds to come there. They had to do this with Daytona years ago and Myrtle Beach because of the same issues. Strict curfews and only allow locals/residents to come over the causeway. When businesses purposely close during these times and Memorial Day-it's for a reason. They don't want to deal with the BS

BTW-This has been going on for many years and really ramped up during the pandemic. I went to SoBe last July and left within 15 mins as I didn't feel safe. Literally 20 mins later in the same spot I was standing, someone was robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight.

No thanks-I'll spend my money elsewhere

I do not know how this continues to happen in Florida..Period, it's my Home State and that is my concern...The Gulf Beaches from Marco Island all the way to and around the Pandandle FULL of Idiots that fall off balconies at Beach Resorts and kill themselves..Spreading whatever they can to our population.

I hope this comes to and End this 2021.

For our Sanity, and for all that's worth..The Idiots too.

Ft. Lauderdale shut it down for a long, long time. The resurgence of South Florida as a Spring Break destination for the masses has been a relatively recent phenomena. It wasn't like this when I moved here 20 years ago.

It only lasts for a couple of weeks, doesn't it? None of the locals go near the beaches when the Breakers are there. Last spring there was considerable worry that the Breakers were going to Covid up the beaches and then create a massive wave of Covid across the US. To hear the hand wringers talk, Armageddon was nigh. But, of course, those worries were overblown. That didn't happen.

The hospitality trade needs tourists and the Spring Break crowd helps to bring in revenue. Again, it's only a couple of weeks.

Even worse, The Clevelander has shut down operations for a week due to a brawl that took place next door at Social, resulting in extensive damage as a result of the thugs who ran up a $20,000 bill and used the brawl as an excuse to get out of having to pay for it.

These thugs should do this back in their cities, not here. We don’t need or want this type of business.
