If someone was to move to Miami Dade County and is unable to speak or understand Spanish, are there any jobs that do not require the ability to speak Spanish. I have Autism Spectrum Disorder (Asperger’s Syndrome) and my disability does render me incapable of learning Spanish or any language other than English (I tried to learn Spanish long ago, but completely failed miserably). If I encounter a customer or someone who cannot speak English, then I can use the Google Translate app on my phone to translate between English to Spanish (or another language) and vice versa to accommodate that customer or the person who does not know or speak English to help them out. As for me, if I was required to take courses in Spanish or another language at the time when I was in school, no matter how hard I tried, I would have gotten an F.

It depends. Can you wash dishes or flip burgers? Really, most jobs involving interaction with people require some spanish. In some areas such as Hialeah people get downright angry at you if you can't speak spanish. In other areas such as Kendall most are spanish but speak at least some english. It all depends on what kind of job you are looking for.

I was talking about usually white collar jobs or jobs that are not considered “front line” and do not require interaction with the public if possible. I always assume the use of Google Translate can be used as a substitute for knowledge of how to speak another language, especially due to my disability. If anybody gets angry at me for the inability to speak Spanish and using Google Translate to communicate to them and accommodate them, especially due to Autism, then they are being a racist jerk and the fact that they are angry is that person’s fault and problem and not mine. Racism is something I never tolerate at all and no matter race, color, nationality, etc, we are all human beings and it is what is on the inside that really matters. The United States has no official language.
