I have been living in Miami for several months now and have been itching to drive south to Key Largo. Doesn't seem too far, but would be different than every day things in Miami. Would love to snorkel and do a scuba "discovery" dive. Thoughts on Key Largo for a weekend trip?

The snorkeling is probably worth it, otherwise Key Largo itself is pretty disappointing.

Is there another Key you would recommend? I have been to Key West in the past so rule that out.

I have heard good things about the Amoray Dive Resort but have not used it myself. They have a dive boat and dive shop on site. You could do a discovery class or the whole certification there on one trip if you have enough days or you can split it over multiple days.

As I said, I've never used Amoray. It's appeal is that it functions (at least in theory) like a dive shop in Belize or Honduras where you wake up have breakfast and walk over to the dive shop and start your day.

Good luck!

Islamorada......that's the city....it's 7 islands

...do some internet searching before you go anywhere.....most of what you'd want to see is off the highway and hidden

Key Largo was flooded the other day - my grandson said. He also said there was a lot of storm damage south of there towards the seven mile bridge
