Hi Everyone,

So my friends and I are going to Miami for spring break and of course we didn't really research the area. We are staying at Day's INN 7450 Ocean Terrace, Miami Beach, FL 33141. Which is around 75th street. I guess this is really not close to "south beach" however it is on a beach. Are we going to be the only spring breakers there? How much would a taxi be to the popular spring break beaches? Any help would be great! Thanks!

No you probably wont be the only spring breakers there but you picked a pretty poor spot if you want night life by your hotel. A cab I am going to guess will run around $15-20 dollars each way. But traffic can get really bad down to south beach during the spring break. The beach will be fine, its more of a local beach but you will find plenty of people there. Not as many as there would be more south but still there will be people. There will also be places to eat in walking distance. But no bars or clubs at all. You could rent a car but parking can get tough in South Beach that time of year but not to expensive compared to other major cities. But if you want the MTV spring break type scene you are going to have to go to South Beach for everything.
Also dont forget all clubs and bars in Miami Beach are 21+

Ya- bad spring break spot. Cab is about 20 bucks- depending if youre wasted or not- because if you get drunk and take a cab theyll charge you whatever they think they can get away with- welcome to miami. Also, Daytona and Panama City are ten times the party this place is during spring break, and ten times cheaper.

Yeah, Miami isn't exactly a "spring break" spot (thank god). I look at gong to panama city or daytona as a kegger, if that's what you are looking for .. that is not miami

Among the buses that run up and down Miami Beach is the S bus (does the H bus still run?) It' costs $1.50 a ride, runs about every 20 minutes. I'm not sure what the late-night schedule is, but it runs around the clock.

Spring Breaking in Miami?
Sounds strange.
Not Ft. Lauderdale, Las Olas?

Ft. Lauderdale isn't really a SB destination much these days. Some go but it's not like it was. Most SBers probably couldn't afford to eat at Las Olas eateries, or shop in the stores, either. The exception at Las Olas is for the Riverhouse complex and by the railroad tracks... those actually have more SBers around.

If one wants a true 'spring break' destination, Panama City, and Daytona are filled with the low budget motels, eats and bars, hence there are a majority of SBers there.

You'll be pretty far from South Beach...and any Spring Break activities. If you can cancel your reservations and move closer to SB, you'd be better off...but be prepared to pay South Beach prices..
