My husband and I are flying into Fort. Lauderdale. We would like to stay in Miami for one night then leave for our Cruise the next day. Our problem is how do we get from Fort Lauderdale to Miami? Does any one know any hotels in Miami who pick up at that airport? How far is that? I am just scared to death of Taxis. You hear so many bad stories about tourists and taxi drivers. Any body have any ideas?

Thanks

There are shuttle services that will take you from FLL to Miami:

Fort Lauderdale VIP Airport Shuttle Transporation Service

I am going to assume you are going to stay in South Beach the night before your cruise, which is a great idea. Depending on what time of day it is, it can take you 20 minutes to 45+ minutes. I would be surprised if you find a hotel in Miami Beach that had a free shuttle to FTL. There are three options the shuttle like ray suggested or limo or a cab, but the cab is going to really pricey probably close to Limo costs. The group shuttle is your best bet. Super Shuttle is a nationwide company. http://www.supershuttle.com/

Mrs

I used to fly a lot to Ft. Lauderdale Int. Airport way back.
They used to have a Lemo service.
Several people in a large lemo. The driver drops them door to door.
Far cheaper than taxi.

WOW!! Thank you all for the quick and helpful responses. We will be flying that day and yes we want to stay in South Beach for that night and then go to the Port the next day for our cruise. We are not sure where we should stay. Is there any MUST GO spots??? Any suggestions?

I never heard those stories. Is that true in other parts of the USA? Taxis are expensive but not dangerous.

Places to see:

If you are staying on South Beach, go to Lincoln Road at night. You don't need a car, just take a cab or walk from your hotel depending how far it is away. Lincoln Road runs east/west between Washinton Avenue and Alton Road around 17th and 18th Streets on South Beach. There is a lot of nightlife stuff, shopping, restaurants, bars/lounges, etc. Also, take a walk along Collins Avenue, Ocean Avenue, and Washington Avenue between 5th Street and 20th Street. Everything is all lit up with bright neon lights and lots of people walking around, going out to nightclubs, restaurants, etc. Its really vibrant and its very safe. South Beach is a walking pedestrian-friendly area.

A great option is take the Water Taxi from Ft Lauderdale to MIA. There is no nicer way to get from FTL to MIA than crusing Biscayne Bay.

Oops! Sorry, I notice that cruise is closed for the season. You can still do this one from Hollywood though.

Bostonian,

There are many different Water Taxis out of Fort Lauderdale, but most do not go down to Miami. You have to check the itinerary and make sure you're on the right one.
