You can live comfortably, but modestly, in Pembroke Pines on $100K/yr.

you will do fine. Just enough to enjoy nights out on the town here and there....take little weekend mini vacations every couple of months. Remember, if you buy...BE VERY VERY WEARY OF HOA FEES AND WHAT THEY MAY GO UP TO DUE TO FORECLOSURES LEFT AND RIGHT.

i think you will be okay as long as you dont get caught up on the materialism of the area and spend without abandon.

In Pembroke Pines? Most of it is pretty unpretentious and middle class, I wouldn't even worry.

I think you would be surprised at the spending habits of some of the fine folks in the western suburbs. Nothing tangible - but those shopping trips, meals and extras add up fast and make a huge dent in a sensible budget. $100K is a fair income, but not one that permits spending without serious budgeting in SFL.

You can certainly live a comfortable life in Pembroke Pines on that sort of income.
