Moderator cut: Orphaned Something about this murder screams 'love note, tequila, pregnant sister' to me. Either that or a drug deal gone bad.

Really sad, as now two families will have lost someone. The 17 year old will go to jail for a long time. The news said it was a love triangle thing, all over a girl.

Some would say, Coral Gables HS *does* have students from Grand Ave. in the Grove, after all. To which we have to say...where was the ghetto near Columbine?

Columbine's different, IMO. This happens more often in S FL than probably any other region in the US. It it's not at the top, it's probably close.

The reason it takes in from these other areas is because many kids that would go to CGSHS go to private schools instead. And so the county then pulls from other areas to fill the seats.

At least Miami has yet to have a shooting in a school! So far it seems that knives are the weapons of choice. This kind of violence cannot be blamed on the school system, but on dysfunctional family life.
