I am contemplating moving to SEYBOLD POINTE CONDOS. It is right across from the Culmer Metrorail station. I am not from Miami and some told me to stay away because of the proximity to the Overtown neighborhood. I will be working downtown right next to Bayfront Park. My work is exactly 2 miles from this condo. What would be the recommended method of travel? Should I take the metrorail then take the metromover? Or would it be faster to just bike the two miles? Any advice or recomendations would be appreciated.

You are safer when there are more people around you.

I wouldn't suggest that area. Not sure what your budget is?

My budget is as close as possible to bayfront park at the cheapest possible price without living in the ghetto.

That building is very near the medical campus of the University of Miami. I drive past it all the time. It's sort of on the edge of Overtown but also on the edge of Spring Garden (a small, better neighborhood of mostly single-family homes). There's a Winn-Dixie supermarket nearby, so you should be able to walk (during the day) to do your groceries. If I were you, I'd take the rail and the Metromover, as you described. Biking would indeed be faster but less safe, especially during the evening. Good luck, and Welcome to Miami!

You can take Metrorail to City Center, then walk a few blocks to work, you can take Metro mover, but it is not that far of a walk to Bayfront, just a few blocks. Not sure what your rent will be there, but there are some okay places by Civic Center Metro rail too. I found a place recently, not ghetto, $675.

I used to bike around downtown all the time. You're hardly in any danger. Weather is the biggest deciding factor in biking in Miami. Is it 95 degrees out? Will you sweat to death? Will it storm?

It's not the best area in town, but it's far from the absolute worst.

I used to do the same... but I would start off in Coral Gables and head east on Blue Road / Grand Ave. and ride though Coconut Grove. Some people told me I was crazy for doing this... Mind you, never at night...
