Before it used to be a Hialeah thing for low income people to lease expensive luxury cars. Now this car culture has spread everywhere, even to middle class residents. It's a personal choice though.
Can you please explain this Princess? I have lived in Hialeah since childhood, and if anything, the opposite is true. Most people used to drive around in cars a decade old, including my parents.

Older people yes, they tend to drive old cars. The youth(and there are exceptions of course), once they can afford to lease a car they do so and tend to get the most expensive model while still living with their parents in very modest homes or apartments. It was always my Hialeah acquaintanceswho drove the most expensive cars, but like I said the car culture exploded and that's pretty much a norm anywhere in Dade county.

I think this is any big city in the US - it simply can't be pinholed to Miami. NYC same way - LA - Chicago, any major city - that is the culture of today - along with baggy pants and big chains. I don't think that Miami is anymore or less superficial than any one of the major cities accross the US.

"At what point did MIami Fl become so Materialistic and Superficial?"

Answer: Since never.

The only place that has any superficial to it is certain people in certain parts of South Beach and certain people in certain parts of the ultra rich, luxurious, exclusive places of Miami-Dade County. Other than that, we don't have any supeficialness, and tourists are NOT included in that. Just because a superficial person is Miami or Miami Beach does NOT mean Miamians are like that.

Since sometime in the early 2000's I'd say. Since then, Miami has become an absolute hell to live in. Most of the people are rude, self-centered, materialistic, non-caring, self-promoting a-holes.

First off, good luck finding any good, decent people in Miami that would make good friends. You only get the shallow, self-serving, undependable kind of people here.

Second, enjoy your rage filled driving sessions from people who only god knows how got their licenses (and cars) and/or are just jerks on the road.

Miami is very materialistic. Drive out to Kendall and you will find homes out there that shouldn't have a Porsche SUV for instance or some other expensive car parked in the driveway. Yet people do, because they want people to think they are super wealth, yet they drive home to west Kendall to a $200k home. And Miami isn't materiallistic.

Oh Miami is bad. It can only be experienced. Im not sure when or why - I know cars are because so many people spend so much time in their cars, but truly the range and scope of the vehicles there are unreal. Not to mention the clothing and spending. I really dont know why.
