Hey, I worked in downtown Pontiac in the late 1980's and early 1990's. Don't discount the effort - it made the downtown core from Huron Street to Phoenix Center a lot better place to work and to party.

While it was there, Pike Street Restuarant was the best restuarant in all of Detroit.

The Ultimate Sports Bar at Wayne and Lawrence was our regular Thursday night bar spot. We would walk straight from work to that place, then stagger home at midnight or two in the morning.

Industry was very impressive when it first opened, and was the top night spot in the metro area for a year or two. Closed down, became a few other places but none as good or successful as it used to be.

The piano bar that opened at the corner of Saginaw and Pike used to have some good live acts on Thursdays thru Saturdays.

That bar and pool hall on the corner of Saginaw and Water (now Tonic Night Club), with Blues acts every Friday night.

We even tried line dancing at Diamonds and Spurs, nearly got thrown out of the place because we didn't line dance correctly - but as I recall, the place was packed when it was first opened.

There's still places down there, Clutch Cargo in the old church, Tiki Bob's Cantina, Sevin in the old Ultimate Sports Bar, Lush in the old Pike Street Restaurant, Tonic, JD's Key Club...does anyone know if there's still any nightlife in downtown Pontiac?

Ah, can't be much of a road racer, Waterford Hills Road Coarse is 5 minutes away from Pontiac. Been around over 50 years. Maybe its not a big SCCA track, but its still a lot fun Road Racing in the back yard. Spectators are always welcome.

I used to live a mile down Sashabaw from there....well, Pelton st was a mile anyway. Used to watch some of the races there. Love it when the heavy hitting GT-1's come in. When they have the classic guys racing it gets a bit boring because they are so understandably careful. Nice track.
