Inside the old Federal's building.

Long-Vacant Detroit Store Finds New Tenant « CBS Detroit

This is great news, especially when there are retail establishments opening in the neighborhoods for a change. This would also be their first westside locations. Maybe we could get a downtown location next. It certainly beats another Family Dollar, Beauty Supply or Liquor Store

This is what I found interesting though...
WWJ’s Florence Walton spoke with University of Detroit Mercy marketing analyst Ben Bernanke who said it’s good news anytime a retail outlet opens in the city.
That's a very familiar name, is it not?

A moderator can delete this thread. It was meant for the Detroit forum and I added it here by mistake. I'm having problems with my internet connection.

Well, it's a year later and the Federals building is still empty. Not much is going on across the street at the Montgomery Wards building either.

It's 2014 and old Federals building is still boarded up.
The place was a gem when it opened in 1949.
Any other photos of the area?

Oh good. I was so afraid I'd be subjected to more of those dreadful, horrendous, headache-inducing "Foreman Miiiillllls" ads. I'd never in a million years shop at a place that thought those commercials were OK and actually paid to put them on the air.
