LOL! Yeah winter is 6 or 7 months long... NOT. We don't even have snow on the ground yet for much of the State. To reach the 6 month mark, if it snows tonight and stays, that means we'll have snow still by the middle of June? Don't think so. Not even the UP has 6 or 7 months of winter.

MI has about the best 4 season weather of any State I have lived in or spent time in. About the time you are sick of winter, Spring comes, then a beautiful 4 or 5 month long Summer, followed by a stunning Fall season just about the time the hot summers are getting old. When the leaves are gone and the snow starts to fly, you have 3 or 4 months of good skiing, snowmobiling, and other winter fun.

Where ever you buy it, make sure it will make it through the heavy snows they get up in the UP. Don't get a wimpy little thing with two wheel drive.

I'm not sure about how much cars are where you come from, but in my travels I've noticed cars are thousands of dollars cheaper outside of Michigan. Not sure why.
I appreciate your input. However, where I live now winter effectively begins in early October with subzero nighttime lows, and the first leaf buds aren't seen on trees until May. Late April in warm years. Leaves change in mid August and peak colors are usually on the last days of August - by the third week of September everything is brown and snow is down to the 1000 foot level. Around Thanksgiving the sun disappears behind the mountain and we don't see direct sunlight again at the house until near February. Right now you can start seeing enough light to walk to your car without a headlamp at about 9:30am or so.

So while I understand that the UP is at the southern edge of the boreal and it sure ain't Louisiana, trust me when I say that we look forward to four real seasons even though winter may still be the predominant one

Thanks for the input on cars. Looks like between that, and the sales tax, we should buy and bring.
