Sorry up front,, don't know where to post this properly. (Mods, please move accordingly),

Hubby and I want so badly to move back to Michigan. We left about 8 yrs ago, have had a great life here,, (wont go into any negatives right now), but have been wanting to go back home for a few years now, we don't know where to go or look at this point. We are just looking for some local Michiganers to help us get back home.

We are from several different areas,, Belleville,Canton, Romulus,,Mancelona, Grayling, Gaylord, Traverse City. Not going to explain the different areas we are from,, but long story short,,, we loved the Mancelona living and Traverse City working life..

Life changes drastically,, so at this time,, we are in our(41 & 42) early 40's,, no kids at home,, no pets.. We own everything we have here in Florida. We have over $5000 saved in cash,,,(I want $15,000.00), we have a single wide trailer up for sale, it would help me reach our goal.

Hubby has a 90 % chance on getting his old job back,,,, in Traverse City. Both hubby and I have packed up and moved several times in our life,, living in motorhomes till we get established,, but in the past,, we had a kid and dogs,,, welll now we dont have either.

I currently make $20 per hour and he makes $15. But,,,,,,,, we don't have benefits,, unless you count Avmed Health Ins. and their denials as a benefit. We both have over 8 yrs with the same company. But no benefits or retirement,, no vacation, holiday pay, sick pay, etc.

We have NO Expectations of finding jobs in Michigan to compare to what we have now,,, we are hoping I get a job with atleast maybe $10? and him like maybe $12? We are looking for a piece of property large enough for me to have my own garden,,,outdoor swimming pool, fenced in yard and have a doggy to call home,, would love some chickens and maybe a pig.

His main profession is Welder/Fabricator,, however,, he has many skills and references for different jobs.

I am mainly a full charged bookkeeper and have many professions/skills.

Any help would be much appreciated,,,, please help us get back home!!!

With $5k in tow and a mobile home, you can get to Michigan and be fine. You also won't have to take the kind of paycuts you suggest.

What's keeping you away? Hook that ***** up to a truck and bring it to the redneck North.

I hear a lot of commercial construction companies are looking for welders. Just not enough young people going into the profession, and many welders left when the manufacturing economy here tanked.

Come back home to the Traverse City area!! It sounds like you want some farm animals. I'd say anywhere "up north" in the LP is perfect for that.

Come home! You'll be fine. Michigan is one of...if not the top state in leading the recovery. We are definitely on the way up...big time!

Cripes, the last time I knew a certified welder who was only getting $12 an hour was back in the late 80's early 90's.
