My husband, daughter and I just moved back to MI after 6 years in MD (we wanted to be nearer to my in-laws, who live near Traverse City). We've been searching for an apartment for more than a month now and finally found a small house for rent on East Front Street. The yard isn't ideal, but the house itself is cute enough and tbh, we're desperate to move out of his parents' place. However, I'm worried about the neighborhood and the amount of traffic on Front Street. Our daughter just started walking, and I'm also wondering how noisy it'll be/what kind of area that is. Eventually we are hoping to buy a house in one of the older, established neighborhoods that we love in the city, but I don't know much about the Front Street neighborhoods except that they're within walking distance of downtown, but that they're busy. Can anyone give any advice?

Depending on where it is on East Front St. it can be pretty busy, especially during the summer, I'd probably look elsewhere with a toddler.

Yes, Front Street is very busy. There are some really nice neighborhoods over towards Munson Hospital. The streets are numbered (8th, 9th) and there are older wood framed houses. Not sure if there would be many rentals though.
