I am looking to relocate back to Michigan but this time I'd love to be in Charlevoix/Antrim/Grand Traverse/Leelanau county. I'm getting homesick Can anyone tell me any major corporations or companies that I should be looking into? Any school districts hiring? Any job advice?

I'm not in the profession, but I do know the schools up here are on really tight budgets, and that you would have to fight like hell to get into one, unless you just happened to possess a skill no one else had. Do you have any medical/hospital experience? If not, I would advise going for an entry level position at Munson in TC and then training for something further up the pay scale. Respiratory Therapy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Nursing are the hottest jobs. The Charlevoix Hospital is just too small. You most likely won't get in there unless you know someone. The Petoskey hospital was recently bought out and is in a transitional phase. Anytime that happens, the first thing new managment usually does is find ways to slash costs, so it might not be the best time to try and get in there.

I realize you may already have experience in your current profession, but if you're gonna live up north comfortably I would suggest adapting your skill set to whatever helps you accomplish that goal. School jobs up here are few and far between.

Walmart. Good luck.

Where are all the Northern Michigan groupies? I brought this question up several times and was given hell about it. When your economy is based on tourism, that means service jobs, and service jobs mean minimum wage and part time. There's a reason why northern Michigan has some of the poorest counties in the state.

Would help if we knew what line of work you were in, this way could direct you to some corps.

If you are from Michigan, you know the economy here is in the crapper. The counties that are on your wish list are all heavily dependent on tourism. This equates to many low wage jobs. There is a saying here "A cut in pay for a view of the bay". You better believe it! Great place to raise a family, good schools, safe, etc. Not such a good place if you are in search of a well paying job. Another saying here "It's not what you know, it's who you know!” That is also a truism here.
