We are all in for an unsustainable future with the health care reform that we will not be able to afford. For those of you out there who get Netflix online, watch the Frontline documentary; "Ten Trillion and Counting". Tell your friends and family and anyone else that you can think of. If anything, it will open your eyes to something that you have not thought about or heard before. You need to see this.

If anything, you will come away with an understanding of the critical junture at which we stand.

Yeah, my problem with ALL the hyealthcare bills being slapped around in Washington right now is that NONE of them addresses cost control. If they addressed cost control -- and nothing else -- that would probably make it possible for everyone in the country to have healthcare at a net savings of billions a year.

I totally agree. I'm for the status quo - at least for now.

They're more concerned about covering illegal immigrants and elective procedures like abortion.

Their priorities should be:
1. Require catastrophic health care insurance
2. Provide free but limited coverage to the unemployed eliminating Cobra
3. Require an annual/family deductible of about $1000 (negotiable)
4. Eliminate the pre-existing condition crap
5. Limit legal liability -- tort reform.
6. Don't setup a system that is not financially sound -- requiring 10 years of taxes to pay for 5 years of service should be a non-starter.
7. Setup an immigration and customs enforcement office near every emergency room or admissions office.

Universal Health Care should be about catastrophic health care -- not about having the government pay for routine health care services. The goal should not be about how many people they can cover; I don't want to pay for the healthcare of other country's citizens. If we require a rather large deductible -- people will be less likely to abuse the healthcare system and allow the free market to work. People generally don't care about price when they have either no deductible or a low deductible.

Well -- can't say that's completely true since they intend to pay for any abortion for any reason and they plan to have death panels that will counsel those over a certain age on why it's right they should die instead of being treated.

I imagine there's all kinds of "cost control" things planned. Forced prenatal screening so no "deformed" or - otherwise imperfect according to what the pc crowd believes is the criteria - baby makes it through to be born, evaluation of anyone over 50 on whether or not certain procedures are "cost effective".
