Out of the blue I received an email from a fellow FLICKR member. It said he seen my photo's in a forum and they reminded him of growing up in Northern Michigan. He now lives in Florida but looks forward to returning home.
Anyway after seeing my shots he looked at my profile and seen I was in fact in Michigan. Knowing how times are tough here he decided to buy me a pro account. I've never seen him post in the forums, I've never exchanged emails with him. Just out of the blue because of his kindness and my photo reminded him of home he spent his own money to buy a total stranger a gift. How cool is that? He asked in return........ fill it up with as many nice shots of Michigan as you can. I think I can do that.

Kindness from a stranger. Great thread to share similar stories.

I flew from Japan to the Detroit airport about a week ago. Snow in Detroit, and my family members who were going to pick me up got in an accident unbeknown to me (they were okay), but no one was at the airport, but I didn't know why at the time.

A great man, african-american guy, who saw me anxiously looking around for someone who was going to pick me up, quickly offered to loan me his cellphone to call them, where I found out about the accident. He then helped me rent a car by quickly calling car companies for me....found one with the best deal, etc. Led me to the car rental shuttle, etc.

I was very thankful to be the recipient of his kindness.

That reminds me. I ran into a gal who was having a problem at Soaring Eagle Casino. She had been paged and could not reach her husband. I loaned her my cell phone and then she made me stand there for 20 minutes while she talked about every detail of her gambling, what she had left in the refridgerator for the kids to eat, how the dog was behaving.. . . .

I asked her to return my phone several times and she just kept talking. I wa on the point of simply grabbing it away from her when she finally got the message and ended the conversation.

The message there may be that is someone is polite to you, be courteous. Do nto take advantage or people will not be polite in the future.

My neighbor plows out his fellow neighbors driveways without asking. He just does it, and he doesn't even know some of the residents. He just has a truck and a plow on it, so he does it.

It's nice that people that a few minutes out of their day to help someone else. People need to be a bit more gracious and thankful, and a little less greedy and pissy.

Before we moved we had several neighbors with plows on their truck. Even with the heaviest deepest snow falls hey would drive bye while I was digging out my driveway so I know it wasn't them. LOL
The real kicker was our street had a nice steep hill at the corner and people would have to turn around in my driveway to go out of the sub another way. Not one time did any of the snow plow neighbors drop their plow and help the ENTIRE neighborhood out in the 10 years I lived there. Me on the other hand would plow it out with my father in laws tractor anytime I used it when the snow was really deep and heavy or I just did not feel like shoveling.

Hey! Tiger Beer, this thread was about me. Not you or anybody else and their kind stories! LOL I'm just kidding, that was very nice of the guy to go out of his way to help you.

I love that whole random acts of kindness, pay it forward idea/movement. Isn't there a commercial that shows people doing little things like holding an elevator?
Spread the good feelings.

I like to pay for the meals of one or two cars behind me at a fast food place once in a while. It is fun and funny and does not really cost much. You should see the look on the window operators face when you say "How much is the car behind me, I want to pay for them" and then add "Well how much for the one behind that?" Sometimes they say that they cannot allow that, but usually the laugh and say that it is really cool.

The other day, I overheard a guy trying to pay $20 to keep his cell phone turned on. The cell phone guy said it was not enoguh and the guy trying to pay got really distressed. I finally said that I would pay the bill so that he could keep his telephone service. It was $145 - ooops.
