Hello, opinions needed! Job transfer is bringing us to Van Buren Township. We are a family looking for a community to relocate to. Parents live in Owosso area and would like to find something between Owosso & Van Buren Township with a communte in our favor. Considering Howell/Brighton and want to know what the commute will be like. Not sure of quality of closer communities, please help! We have lived in Chicago and Minneapolis and have no idea what traffic will be like. Thank you for any advice you can give, we really appreciate it.

Howell or Brighton will be at least a 30 - 35 minute commute on a good day. I-275 is a straight shot to Van Buren Township, but if for any reason (accident, road work, etc.), there is not another straight north/south road to take.

If you are seeing parents once a week or weekends, probably better to be closer to Van Buren itself. Washtenaw County has some nice areas out along Willis Road. Also around the south end of Ypsilanti / Saline area along Carpenter Road is nice as well. I would go for the shortest commute / best area to VAn Buren Twp and bite the bullet on the Owosso commute if it is just weekends or less...
