I've always been a GM guy. I own 3 Pontiacs right now, two with just over 250k and one with almost 300k. All still run good, have never had any major problems.

Regarding Pontiacs---------if someone had told me in the late 50's that only Buick would be around of the 3 ( Buick, Pontiac, Oldsmobile) I would have refused to believe it.

In our area, ( of those 3 ) Pontiac was the most popular followed by Oldsmobile and Buick a distant third.

No way would I have envisioned Oldsmobile and Pontiac being dropped and Buick remaining.

As a kid in jr high during the mid-late 60's, I used to marvel at the new Pontiacs and new Oldsmobiles my older cousins used to drive when they came to visit .

Both remained loyal to their brand until they died ( one to Pontiac, one to Oldsmobile )

They both died before the death of Oldsmobile and Pontiac.

Ugh, I was so angry when they dropped Olds. I loved my old Olds, and dream of one day owning an early 70s hardtop Cutlass.

My dad worked at Fisher Body Pontiac for 30 years, retired in 1974. He worked the A line mostly (bonnievilles and the catalins early GP's). I hired in and workded there from May 1968 till they closed the doors. They had just redisinged the GPs smaller.
So we ran the GP and Tempest line on the B line. I was what they called an extra man as I could do about any job they needed some one to do is a short time. I did that for 5 years then got a repair job. I went to Orion 18 months after they closed fisher body. I was retired before they started building the G6 there But I got to spend lots of time with the new 2000 Bonnieville before I retired. We told the enginners they were pigs so they came to see for them selves. the Arouras ate the bonnevilles up on the test track till they put new chips in the engine putter.

I'm an Olds guy my self and used to get POD when they talked about the quilaty of the Lesaber they built at Buick city in Flint when they ran the Olds 88 down the same line.
My mother in law has a 1985 Le saber in the grarage right now I checked the milage on it just today 83996 It looks nearly new.
