My boyfriend is a MA1 and wants to drop in his officer package. Is it true, that if he would be married to me (German Citizen) he would have an disadvantage or even would not be considered for the officer program? I am sure it would be a little bit harder but not impossible to get a secret or TS clearance.

No, don't think so at all. As a MA he already holds a secret clearance. The only thing that will slow down the process is when they do the background investigation for his TS, and he will have to disclose on the SF-86 he is dating you at that time. I had a TS with a SCI and my wife is from Spain.

It is just a rather persistent rumor. As already mentioned background will take a bit longer.

Been there, done that.

Will not impact his clearance at all (given a normal background for both parties), he will even be granted in interim clearance while going through the process if he gets to the point he has a need to know. (I assume they have not changed the rules too much since Manning and Snowden, many people reach the fleet before there clearances come through and are granted interim clearance by the command).

It will just take a little longer for the final clearance, but I doubt he will even notice when it does come, I sure as heck did not. I allready had my clearance when I got married, and they suspended it but granted an interim while the process was going through (I guess standard way of doing things), it was all transparent to me, I did not notice a single bump in my daily life.
