Hello, I imagine the answer is a negative one. But I have a 2c RE Code from the Airforce with a separation code of JFV. The full story was I had a panic attack during BMT years ago when I joined as an 18 year old and I was let out.

It’s years later, I haven’t had a relapse and Ive put myself through a lot of situations to strengthen my mind and I’ve matured.

Recently I’ve been wanting a change in life and would like to rejoin the Airforce. I asked a local recruiter and they weren’t sure so they sent out a few questions and asked to see if was possible and haven’t gotten a response back. (Today) Is it even possible (including waivers)? Even if it’s not possible, do you think another branch would allow me in?

I mean I have nothing to lose from asking, life will just stay the same if it’s a no.

The Army might entertain it.

I separated from the Marines in 1992 with a 2 something? code. It was during the drawdown of the early 90s and came with separation pay.

In 1998 with a college degree I called an Air Force recruiter - No go, they considered me "retired" due to the sep pay. I tried the Navy (actually 2 different recruiters) No go, at 38 they said I was to old although I had 11 years prior service? I gave the Army a try - the recruiter grabbed an officer and drove 90 miles to my house, stuck a flag in my lawn and pinned on the butter bars. Direct commission and I served another 15 years.

Since you are open to other branches and recruitment is down this seems like a good time to try.

Good Luck!

So I noticed in these types of questions- the OP never provides updates. So I will for anyone with similar situations. The Airforce has yet to give a solid answer of it being even possible to waiver a 2c. The Navy will not consider an Airforce 2c. The Army and Marines have told me an Airforce 2c is possible with a waiver. The army did add that an Airforce 2c with a sep code relating to drug use will not be considered. Mental Health (my reason) is possible to be waivered but I will most likely have to undergo a psych eval. I will be pursuing the Army.

I’ll keep people updated.
